Rest In Peace

A quick post on what is usually a very busy day - First Friday.   Yesterday I learned of the sudden death of Mgr Joseph Quinn, the parish priest of Knock, Co. Mayo, and the rector of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Knock, Queen of Ireland.  As far as I can make out, Mgr Quinn collapsed before breakfast, after having offered Mass in the shrine, and died immediately.  It is very tragic.

Mgr Quinn was a very good and kind man.  Whenever I was in Knock, he was very hospitable and generous.  Please remember him in your prayers, and remember his family and the people of Knock who are coming to terms with the sudden death of their pastor.

Lamb of God

After the last post something to cheer us all up and inspire us to have faith and pray.  This is a piece by English composer John Tavener, The Lamb, a setting of a poem by William Blake, and the simplest musical structure ever, yet so beautiful.  In these times it is to the Lamb that we turn.  Which reminds me, that is how the Lord appeared in the apparition at Knock - the Lamb upon the altar.
